Indaba Coffee
Indaba Coffee has become a staple for locals looking to catch up, have a study or work session. India is built on community and quality. They serve crafted drinks like lattes, matcha, cold brew, and teas in modern spaces with natural lighting that minimizes distractions. At Indaba there are plenty of seating options, including larger tables (for groups) with outlets near by truly making it an ideal study or work location.
Owner Bobby Enslow says, “Love People, Love Coffee. Those four words symbolize our heart and vision. We try our very best to live by it.” This philosophy drives Indaba’s mission to connect and build the community.
Indaba roasts and brews its own beans, giving them full control over flavor profile that they serve at all four of their locations.. Their handcrafted drinks are made with high quality ingredients. I can speak especially for their chai concentrate it is packed with a delicious spicy flavor and is a personal favorite. At Indaba they are constantly changing up the menu as well making seasonal changes to their unique flavors. The menu changes seasonally, offering unique flavors and vegan and gluten-free options for those with dietary restrictions. While not vegan or gluten free, Indaba makes one of the most incredible breakfast sandwiches. You truly cannot go to Indaba without having one (plus its pure work fuel).

Ladder Coffee Roasters
Ladder Roasters started off as a coffee passion that quickly grew into a full on coffee roaster with two locations in Spokane. The community rallied for Ladder Coffee Roasters and here’s why. It started off as just a passion, the owners would make coffee for their friends on the weekend, and suddenly they have 100+ people showing up on Saturday for coffee. At that point, they knew they needed their own place. They renovated the old 1994 “Dormitory” in the Browne’s Addition and Ladder Coffee roasters was born.
Their carefully sourced, expertly crafted coffee menu reflects a true dedication to quality. They don’t just lead into quality with their coffee it’s also their food. They partner with Gander and Ryegrass to deliver incredible food items with savory and sweet options. I am a huge fan of their “Spicy Avocado Toast”, I always add prosciutto l for a broader flavor (trust me on this). Both locations have a minimalistic atmosphere and is filled with beautiful greener which brightens the space. As for coffee, I usually get a hot vanilla latte (mostly for the latte art let’s be real) but also it’s not overly sweet either!

Anvil Coffee Roaster
Anvil Coffee Roaster is one of my favorite Spokane hidden gems. Anvil is located in the Historic Cracker Building built in 1891 which gives it a rustic feel. The space itself adds to the appeal. The building has the historic exposed brick, natural lighting, and high ceilings that add to the ambiance.
You want to talk about coffee quality, this is the place. They roast coffee only in small batches as coffee degrades over time. Roasting in single batches ensures the most freshness and quality for the consumer! What I love most is that you can custom build your own coffee blend! While everything is roasted in house and the quality is truly off the charts, they make it extremely affordable. Only $14 for freshly roasted espresso blend! It lives as a staple in my coffee rotation.
I usually get an iced Americano here while catching up on work but they also have amazing house made breakfast sandwiches and burritos that are made fresh the same day.
Anvil – 304 W Pacific Ave, Spokane, WA
Rocket Bakery
Locally owned and independent since 1992, Rocket Bakery has stood as a Spokane favorite for thirty four years! Rocket Bakery stands at five different locations across Spokane, and yes, their original Argonne location is still around and standing! Each Rocket Bakery location offers something a little different too! Their 1st and Cedar location serves beer on tap with some bottled wine options as well and their Wall Street location features their own AstroRoast coffee.
Home of the absolutely iconic and award winning pink cookie, that pairs perfectly with their hand crafted coffee. I typically always order a cappuccino here as they make the foam extra frothy!
If you haven’t already tried their chorizo breakfast wrap then let me put you on it! All of their food and pastry options are delicious but something about their chorizo wrap makes my mouth water! It is packed with flavor and it never disappoints!
Rocket Bakery is a Spokane favorite for a reason so if you haven’t made your way over there then take this as a sign to go try a new local coffee shop! Bring a book, catch up with a friend, or get some work done, either way the space is immaculate and you will be visiting again and again.

Tay Tay’s Cafe
Located in Downtown Spokane, Tay Tay’s Cafe stands as a local favorite! I have only been a couple of times but I am blown away by the flavor and ambiance every time! I was immediately hooked when I saw their royal blue counter top, it truly catches your eye the minute you walk in! Of course, the layout is stunning but the real star of the show is the coffee. Don’t underestimate the lavender honey latte, the flavor is on the subtle side but still delicious!
And you can’t forget their house made sandwiches on house made sourdough. While it is basic… their grilled cheese is one of the best I’ve ever had! They use three different cheeses including feta which brings a unique richness.
The cafe itself isn’t very big which can sometimes be challenging if you are looking for a study spot or to catch up with a friend, however I would recommend a coffee walk! Grab a coffee and walk around town with a friend or go solo. Either way, Tay Tay’s is bringing the energy. Tay Tay’s also does weekly and monthly events including trivia night, walk club, and open mic nights!
Tay Tay’s Cafe : 507 S Howard St
Cafe CoCo
Located in the heart of Downtown Spokane, Cafe CoCo was opened in July 2023 by owner Celeste Shaw. This beautiful downtown cafe was named after her granddaughter. Celeste wanted to brand everything “Dear Coco,” which gives the space a personal touch. It’s also a gift shop, so you can browse for something special while you’re there. Cafe CoCo is known for its incredible scratch made menu items such as their soups, pastries, quiches, etc. The menu also includes biscuits and jam, salads, toasts, sandwiches, and savory hand pies, and many of the croissants, cookies, and Danishes come from Chaps, another of Celeste’s businesses. I usually order a hot vanilla cappuccino with a croissant on the side! They have some of the best croissants (deliciously buttery)!
For people planning on working, they do have quite a few table options including a bar stool area for those studying alone. However, if you’re meeting someone or working with people there are table spaces big enough to accommodate larger groups! Cafe CoCo is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am to 3pm, and it sits right next to Main Market Co-Op Grocery and Deli, so it’s easy to pair with a grocery stop!

Derailer Coffee
Hidden away in Spokane’s Hillyard District, Derailer Coffee is a specialty coffee shop located inside the renovated United Building! The name “Derailer” is a nod to Hillyard’s history as a rail town, and the owners’ goal is to give the community a place to gather and drink good coffee. I’ve only been a handful of times and I try to order something different but I have always raved about their matcha! Hands down, some of the best matcha in Spokane by far. If you aren’t an experienced matcha drinker I would try their strawberry matcha or get a classic vanilla matcha (and yes their vanilla syrup is house made).
For people looking to work, I think they have some of the fastest and most reliable wifi! It was also fairly easy to get a table, outlet, etc. which can be challenging at some other places. There are also many tables to choose from which, again, makes it ideal for a work session or catching up with people!
