Gerome Jewelry: @geromejewelry These creative sisters create beautiful copper and nickel jewelry, decorative pieces, and cards. They can customize items as well. Whenever I need a special gift or a piece to commemorate an occasion, I go to the Gerome sisters!

Kasey Clemons: @kaseyanneart A close friend gifted me the opportunity to be painted by Kasey, and this piece is my most prized possession. She promotes body positivity by painting custom nudes. When you purchase a piece from Kasey, know that you are buying an original piece, adding dimension to your space, and helping others fall in love with their beautiful natural selves.

Petit Coast: @petitcoast Two best friends turned their Covid project into an impressive business. These handmade polymer clay earrings sell out quickly.

Saydee King: @pretty.art.see Saydee King’s take on abstract art is transformative. I have a piece hanging in my office and love to stare at it for inspiration.

Best Fashion Destinations in the Inland Northwest

Our local fashion scene is positively blowing up! It’s so hard to narrow this list, so I’m listing the ones I frequent the most. I’ve included their Instagram handles as well so you can give them a follow!

Belair North: @belairnorth Ms. Newhouse is single-handedly making Coeur d’Alene edgy and modern. Think brands like PepperMayo, etclet, Motel Rocks, and the Mayfair Group. The owner is a trailblazer in shining a light on these brands in our area and has had great success online for several years before opening a brick and mortar space in downtown Coeur d’Alene inside Fern.

Campfire Couture: @campfirecouture For you lovers of the elevated and unique, this is your spot. Originally a staple in the heart of downtown Sandpoint, Kimberly Anderson Stoddard recently expanded to bring her exceptional taste and influence to downtown Coeur d’Alene. Last spring, I visited the Sandpoint location and fell in love with the handmade leather goods (designed, cut, and sewn in Sandpoint), unique jewelry, high-end athleisure, and designer denim. I left with my favorite gold necklace–one with a bee charm–and have rarely taken it off since.

Recently, I visited the new Coeur d’Alene location and was incredibly impressed. Expect to find a beautifully curated selection of elevated brands such as Electric and Rose, It is Well, Krewe, Levi’s Premium, Sueno, Agolde, Breda, Lake and Skye, and Lululemon.

Garment District: @cdagarmentdistrict The owner, Sammi, and the entire staff are down-to-earth, helpful without being pushy, and easy to connect with genuinely. This boutique is perfect for finding trendy, reasonably-priced pieces for any occasion. From athleisure to a night out, Garment District and Sammi have your back.

Gas and Grain: @gasandgrain This curated vintage boutique provides all of the perks of thrifting (one-of-a-kind, high-quality, quirky items) without the time-consuming searching. Shantell has carefully chosen each item, so you can walk in and find only items of great value. If you’re looking for bold, timeless, effortless pieces and don’t want to spend hours searching through racks of old t-shirts, this spot is for you!

Grace and Joy: @graceandjoyclothingcompany This local staple is owned and run by a mother/daughter team and includes carefully curated items, along with items designed by the talented owners. Each piece is elevated, elegant, and perfect for all ages.

Johanna Liz Harris: @johannalizharris This up-and-coming local designer combines sultry and feminine and bold and whimsical to create pieces that we all dream of and somehow fit into our everyday lives!

Lavender Sun: @lavendersun.cda This beautiful event space in downtown Coeur d’Alene has a retail section that is a destination all on its own. Here, you can find intentional gifts, vintage collections, and local, handmade goods.

Lila Beauty Co: @lilabeautyco_ If you thought that fresh, luxury fashion was missing from the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, you haven’t found Lila Beauty Co yet. It is truly a one-stop shop! Here, in addition to high-end clothing and accessories, you can also find teeth whitening, lash extensions, hand-tied hair extensions, brow services, waxing, permanent makeup, and microblading! Amber, the owner, brings her superb style and passion for making women of all ages and body types feel their best to the boutique. I never leave without beautiful pieces and feeling pumped up and supported.

Lolo: @lolospokane Lainey LaRue, the proprietor, has truly established Lolo as a destination. Think a local, edgier, more ethical Anthropologie. This boutique balances a mature groundedness with youthful energy, carrying brands like Free People, Beyond Yoga, and We the Free. She intentionally and carefully curates clothing, unique jewelry, and home goods made in the United States. I found the sweetest cards with pressed flowers on them and stocked up!

Marmalade Fresh Clothing: @marmaladefreshclothing This high-end boutique truly makes fashion fun and provides local access to iconic brands, vintage pieces, and up-and-coming designers.

Muse + Maven Boutique: @musemavenboutique This online boutique has regular pop-ups across the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area and can be found every day inside Studio Cultive in Coeur d’Alene. Megan, the powerhouse behind this boutique, brings her modern, classic-yet-edgy sensibility to each item. You can find anything from cozy sweatshirts to edgy fits for a night out.

Reece Boutique: @shopreeceboutique With locations in Liberty Lake and North Spokane, Reece Boutique offers fun, on-trend items for women of all ages! I can’t wear my Reece Boutique pieces without getting countless compliments.

Roses & Thread: @rosesthreadboutique This beautifully curated store is a home run always. This is your go-to if you’re looking for high-impact, high-quality, capsule wardrobe pieces.

Rumour Boutique: @rumourboutique This boutique has become a Coeur d’Alene staple! There are new drops weekly, so I recommend checking their Instagram stories or popping in regularly to be sure you don’t miss out on any of the “Rustic Glamour.”

Rebel Hart Co. & Small Town Rootz: @shoprebelhartco @shopsmalltownrootz These two boutiques combined forces to open a location in the heart of downtown Spokane. Kodies, of Rebel Hart Co., has another location in the Spokane Valley and offers a beautiful collection of clothing that blends modern sensibility with a boho chic flare. Michaela, of Small Town Rootz, is the perfect partner. Perhaps best known for her hat bar events, she offers elevated Western vibes with a hint of bohemian as well.

Simple Wildflower: @simple_wildflower Shop for just the right trendy-meets-classic item at this downtown Spokane boutique, or make an appointment for permanent jewelry from the business that did it first in the area!

Swank Boutique: @swankgirl If the selection weren’t delicious already, I’d come here just to interact with the sweet Swank staff! Swank has something to please women of all ages and caters to the boho babes, punk rock princesses, and country cuties alike.

Tesemini: @tesemini_spirit_of_the_lake Spirit Lake got a lot more stylish thanks to my favorite mother/daughter duo! It’s definitely worth the drive! I can always count on them for effortless pieces and comfy sets.

Tiffany Blue: @tblueboutique Truly a local staple, I have never walked into one of the three locations without finding something I love! Each location has its own style and personality. The downtown Coeur d’Alene location is your source for brightly colored designer pieces; the Riverstone Coeur d’Alene location is younger and more casual; and the newest location in Hayden, Idaho has a more neutral, beachy vibe.

Wildflowers: @__wild.flowers__ Aislynn makes the sweetest earrings! From classic gold hoops and tiny cartilage earrings (I haven’t taken mine off in months), to colorful flowers and dangles with pearls, there is something for everyone! You can order online through her Instagram page or find her creations in Tesemini in Spirit Lake and Garment District in Coeur d’Alene.

Worn Culture: @worn_culture Alex skillfully reworks vintage pieces. If you’re looking for vintage pieces with a perfect industrial, often military, vibe, check out Worn Culture! You can find weekly drops each Thursday morning on the Worn Culture stories or shop in person at Boulevard Mercantile (@boulevardmercantile).

Best Shopping for Kids in the Inland Northwest

Alabaster Baby Co: @alabasterbabyco This sweet shop has a wide variety of classic baby clothes and toys.

Additional best children’s shopping in the Inland Northwest from Trending Northwest contributor Jordy Blaine:

French Toast – mama & mini: @frenchtoastmamamini Located in Kendall Yards, this mommy and me store is one of the most beautiful and touching stores we have ever been in. Between the tiny memorable toys you and your kiddo will remember or the rotating Montessori-inspired learning- the shop has something for every family! Best for ages 6 and under, French Toast Mama & Mini is sure to wrap you up in the magic of childhood.

Spokane Baby Company: @spokanebabyco Spokane Baby Co. is your go-to spot for children’s pre-loved clothing! Ranging from from newborn to 10Y, the new shop has something for everyone! Not just gently used either, you can expect newly made locally made clothes. The shop also buys, sells, and trade kids’ clothes which makes this another amazing resource for families in town.

Best Self Care Items, Gifts, and Home Goods in the Inland Northwest

Fern Plant Shop: @fernplantshop_ For all the plant mamas and papas, this is your spot! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and ready to impart their wisdom, the selection is superb, and with locations in downtown Coeur d’Alene, Spokane, and Liberty Lake, you shouldn’t have to go far!

Floral by Bri: @floralbybri This is NOT your mama’s flower shop! Bri brings a whimsical, creative energy to floral design! She offers design for weddings and corporate events, as well as subscriptions, and individual deliveries. Her belief that her intentional live art can be used to foster community clearly translates into each beautiful arrangement.

Good Life: @bestlifecda The owners emphasize local items, made in the United States, veteran-owned businesses, products with a cause, and small businesses. There are faith-based items, home goods, self-care items, athleisure, and coffee! There are plans to expand and add a coffee shop inside. Currently, I plan to return for their Vuori selection, but I’ll be coming back and hanging around for the coffee soon enough!

Manna: @manna.shop This spot is the perfect premium gift spot! At Manna, you’ll find beautiful jewelry (engagement rings, dainty necklaces, watches, etc.), home goods, children’s toys, and leather goods! I love to stop in weekly to pick up bouquets made from local flowers.

Mountain Madness Soaps: @mountainmadnesssoap Stay stocked up on locally made soaps and bath bombs. Find the perfect stocking stuffers, hostess gifts, or personal indulgences!

Mulberry Market Co.: @mulberrymarketco The young proprietor of this home goods store, Hannah, is basically the Northwest’s younger, edgier Joanna Gaines. The swoon-worthy pieces change for each season, plus she hosts regular classes and provides refreshments to shoppers. I recommend popping in regularly!

Pearl & Tin: @pearlandtin Tyler Robb and her team are perhaps best known for designing and installing swoon-worthy arrangements at weddings and lavish events, but they also have a beautiful storefront with carefully chosen, high-quality gifts, jewelry, decor, and self-care items. Pearl and Tin also offers deliveries and subscriptions.

I hope this list inspires you to do more of your shopping locally and gets you excited about supporting your community, discovering the rich, growing fashion scene in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, and getting creative with your wardrobe, decor, and self care!
