If you’re looking for a beautiful staycation that makes you slow down and enjoy the quiet moments, then you need to book your stay at the Cocoon Cottage in Lakeside. The Cocoon Cottage was custom built in Astoria before being shipped to Tenmile Lake. It was also built by super host Kristie Wolfe who is known for unique stays! As someone who is chronically online, I was desperate for an escape in the woods that didn’t involve physically camping. This whimsical cottage was the perfect place. Not only is it stunning, but it truly invites you to slow down and be present.

The Cottage
When we first arrived, I was immediately blown away by the attention to detail. Everything was themed all the way down to the cooking utensils. The bed doubled as a cozy reading nook and had the most stunning view overlooking Tenmile Lake. As we settled into our space for the weekend, I could hear the birds chirping in the distance, making the entire experience feel even more peaceful.

The Amenities
This cottage was full of so many fun surprises, the first being the outdoor cowboy tub. It was incredible. Not only was it beyond aesthetic, but it was truly so relaxing. They also provided robes and a bottle of oat milk bath for a soothing bath session. Along with the outdoor tub, you also have access to an entire deck that includes a wood fire sauna, a huge fire pit, and a boat dock with a two-person paddle boat. The wood fire sauna was surprisingly easy to use, and they provided everything we needed including fire starters, wood, and even a blow torch to make the process simple. The same went for the fire pit, which made cozy evenings outside effortless.

Inside the cottage, you’ll find a kitchenette stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, seasoning, plates, bowls, and even coffee and cocoa. There is also a small electric cooking stove and mini fridge. I would suggest bringing a cooler as extra storage just in case.
The bed was cozy and elevated, truly inviting us to relax and slow down. They even included a diffuser and essential oils for the ultimate wind-down experience and some magical books!

The bathroom was just as magical. The glass shower featured beautiful flowers inside, adding even more to the whimsical atmosphere. Everything about this cottage felt warm, inviting, and intentionally cozy.
To my surprise, the internet worked amazingly well, as did the hot water. Both of those things can honestly make or break a remote stay, so having them work perfectly made the experience even better.

What I Did
Full disclosure… we didn’t leave the cottage once during our stay. We brought everything we needed so we could fully settle in and enjoy the space. I will say it’s about a twenty-minute drive back into town if you need anything, but honestly, we just wanted to soak in every moment at the cottage.

I was determined to spend less time on my phone, so I filled my days with writing, journaling, reading, watercolor painting, and using the sauna. Maybe mindless tasks to some, but it was incredibly refreshing to simply sit outside, listen to the birds chirping, and paint without feeling rushed. The entire experience reminded me how important it is to slow down and enjoy the quiet moments.

Truly, I cannot recommend staying here enough. Especially now, when everything feels so digital and online, it takes a special place to truly feel magical and help you disconnect from the constant noise of the internet. The Cocoon Cottage offers exactly that kind of escape. Wind down, enjoy nature without having to camp, and spend quality time with a loved one, or even take a solo trip to fully recharge. It’s the kind of place that reminds you how good it feels to slow down and simply be present.
