Spokane Indoor Kid Activities For Artistic Kids

If you’ve got an artistic kid on your hands, Spokane is the perfect place to spark their creativity and let their imagination run wild. From hands-on art studios to interactive exhibits, this city offers a ton of opportunities for young artists to explore, create, and express themselves. Whether it’s painting, sculpting, or performing arts, Spokane has something for every budding artist to discover. These places not only fuel their creativity, but also provide a chance to learn new skills and try out different mediums.

Polka Dot Pottery

Polka Dot Pottery

At Polka Dot Pottery, it’s all about letting creativity run wild and is a great thing to do with kids indoors in Spokane! Kids (and grown-ups too) can paint their own pottery pieces, from mugs to figurines, creating keepsakes to treasure forever. The process is fun, relaxing, and just messy enough to keep things interesting. Plus, the helpful staff makes it easy for everyone to feel like an artist, even if the last thing you painted was a stick figure in third grade. For me, the best part is seeing the excitement on my kids’ faces when they pick up their finished pieces. Those little creations become snapshots of their personalities at that moment, and they always bring a smile to my face when I see them at home.

Spokane Children’s Theater

If you have a little performer at home, or a child who loves animated storytelling, the Spokane Children’s Theatre is a fantastic way for your little one to explore the world of creativity through acting, set design, and more. It’s an inspiring environment where they can discover the power of self-expression, whether they are the performers, or get to enjoy a show in the audience.

Spokane Symphony

The Spokane Symphony offers an incredible opportunity for kids to experience the magic of live music through their Sensory-Friendly Performances—a special initiative designed to make orchestral music accessible and enjoyable for children with sensory sensitivities, including those on the autism spectrum or with other neurodiverse needs. These performances aim to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where families can enjoy world-class music without the typical pressures of traditional concert settings.

Spokane Art School – Little Explorers Classes

Perfect for kiddos who are ready to explore diving into the world of art! The Spokane Art School offers age-appropriate art classes where they’ll explore painting, drawing, and sculpting in a playful, relaxed setting. Here they can spark their creativity and build confidence with every brushstroke.

Tinker Time Studio

For kids with big imaginations, Tinker Time Studio is a dream come true. This creative haven lets little inventors, builders, and dreamers explore hands-on activities with STEM-inspired projects. The setup is refreshingly parent-friendly, with space for grown-ups to watch, assist, or just enjoy the magic happening in front of them. It’s one of those places where kids feel like they’re playing, but they’re secretly learning—and honestly, who doesn’t love that win-win? I love that it’s a space where messes are part of the fun and creativity is celebrated. Every visit is different, and your kids will leave with a project they’ll proudly show off for days.

Mobius Discovery Center

Mobius Discovery Center

Mobius Discovery Center is the kind of place where kids can explore endlessly while parents get to see their faces light up with excitement. Their rotating exhibits are so interactive and engaging that we always lose track of time. Mobius also hosts amazing family events throughout the year, so I recommend keeping an eye on their calendar. Our favorite is when the Spokane Chiefs come in to interact with the kids; it’s heartwarming to see the players connect with the community. And for days when you can’t make it in, Mobius has to-go kits which are perfect for bringing a bit of Mobius magic home.

Spokane Public Libraries

Spokane Libraries are so much more than a place to check out books—they’re hubs for community and creativity. With kid-friendly reading nooks, interactive story times, and themed play areas, these spaces invite the whole family, and they’re free (who doesn’t love that?). It’s the perfect destination for a change of the playground scenery.  My kids love the story times and play areas, and I love having a quiet moment to browse while they’re fully engaged. It truly is a win for everyone.
