Spokane’s culture food scene is expanding and bringing more culture and diverse menus to our city. The owners at Spokane’s most diverse food spots pour their heart and culture into their businesses, giving guests an out of the ordinary experience in Spokane. 

The quaint but noteworthy list of cultural cuisine in Spokane is one that you can repeat over and over when you’re looking for a meal outside the box. Some of these beloved spots have been in town for years, others are new neighbors of ours, both deserve the local love that we have to offer. These restaurants are also scattered across the Greater Spokane area, giving you ample opportunities to see new spots in Spokane. 

India House 

India House Authentic Cuisine brings Indian flavor and fragrance that takes you out of Eastern Washington. The South Hill restaurant praises their chefs for providing patrons and guests with exceptional and authentic Indian dishes. Their lunch buffet is known to be a hot commodity during the work week as well as their dinner dishes and delicacies.

Gangnam Style

Nestled in downtown Spokane, Gangnam Style is a Korean street food and pub offering classic Korean comfort dishes, shareable bites, traditional drinks and cocktails. Owned by a husband and wife, they invite guests to gather in Korea’s rich traditions and flavor. Open for lunch and dinner, order their K-Chicken and crispy dumplings for a step outside the average lunch or dinner menu.

Indicana

Welcoming in flavors from India and Mexico, Indicana offers a lunch and dinner menu in the Perry District. From bowls, burritos, tacos for lunch to more innovative dishes for dinner- Indicana is quickly becoming a contender for peoples go-to meal out. One of my group chats shared, “I’ve been twice recently…Food was great, flavors on point.” Their Curry Rip & Dip, Mango Enchiladas, Kerala and Shrimp & Exquisite Grits all came with the highest of praise. Stop in for the daily happy hour from 3-5 p.m.!

Italia Trattoria 

With Michelin Star experience in the kitchen, Italia Trattoria, is one of Spokane’s favorite best kept secrets. Reviewers shared that the food was consistently something they look forward to year after year. The beloved restaurant in Browne’s Addition boasts a menu of Italian classics like Bruschetta for an early app,and  Chicken Picatta or Lamb Ravioli as entrees. An ambiance that whisks you away for your reservation, book your special anniversary or couples date night here.

Queen of Sheba

The Ethiopian restaurant inside the Flour Mill Building is one-of-a-kind. The owner, from Ethiopia herself, brings her culture and love for it through her dining and hospitality. Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Cuisine serves a strong blend of spices and traditional recipes that welcome you straight to Ethiopia. The Ethiopian kitchen loves to welcome in groups to share the traditional dining experience on large platters to share with bread torn off, and eaten with your hands. Grab your family for a fun night out of trying something new!

Shiki

Downtown, located in River Park Square, Shiki, is one of five Shikis in the Pacific Northwest. Started by a chef named Leon Chi, a Manhattan chef that settled down in Washington state, he turned his love for sushi into business. Starting his first Shiki in Walla Walla, Spokane was his fourth location before Coeur d’Alene. Serving sushi, speciality rolls, ramen and more- the downtown spot is open for lunch and dinner. Pick a movie and enjoy a date afternoon at Shiki before heading upstairs to AMC. 

Thai Kitchen

Thai Kitchen in Spokane Valley has been in business since 1990. The decade- old restaurant pivoted to takeout only during the pandemic and hasn’t looked back. Popular for a reason, Thai Kitchen serves takeout but also large group orders, perfect for a big night in! Known for their genuine Thai food, some locals have been going for 20 plus years.  Only open Wednesday- Saturday, make sure to plan Thai Kitchen in advance.
