Heartstrings and Laughter: A Tribute to Motherhood
Listen to Your Mother
Sunday, May 12, 2024
The Bing Crosby Theater
Just as the spring brings back perennial tulips, it also brings back Mother’s Day each May. Mother’s Day and motherhood can be heartwarming, hilarious and sometimes even heartbreaking. No matter where you are on your journey, Spokane offers an event that every mother will connect with for a greater cause.
Listen to Your Mother is a non-profit event that welcomes women, mothers, and listeners from all walks of life to the Bing Crosby Theater to celebrate and honor motherhood.
In the words of Tupac Shakur,
“And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it’s time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don’t we’ll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can’t make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you’re fed up ladies, but keep your head up.”
Thirteen women will share their stories on the Bing Crosby stage on Sunday, May 12th, which are sure to inspire and impact guests in attendance.
Kendra Johnson, owner of Whole Body Wellness and the producer of “Listen to Your Mother,” shared that the show is an annual event she looks forward to attending every Mother’s Day. “I didn’t want to see it end,” she said.
The evening is also about giving back. Embrace Washington, a non-profit organization in eastern Washington with the mission to enrich the lives of foster children, will receive 40% of the proceeds.
Throughout the one hour program, guests can expect to hear stories from mothers and women in our community that will leave a mark forever. To purchase tickets, click here.
